Using the Desktop Sync Client

Using the Desktop Sync Client | Set up a new Vault Sync | Using the Desktop BACKUP Client

Overview

Encrypted Work sync clients allow you to upload files from a remote device to a dedicated folder within an encrypted vault.

To configure a sync connection you need a one time Desktop Sync Connection code.

The Desktop Sync Connection is a code such as obfs31asqa0alfaagjs

The Sync client is a Menu Bar Application. Menu bar apps live in the top-right corner of your Mac’s screen - you will see the Encrypted Work Icon and clicking this gives you access to the Application menu.

Once you have a sync code and have installed the Sync Client for your device it will appear in your Menu Bar Apps, launch the Sync Client and select Configuration from the Main Menu. (see screenshot below)

Copy and paste in the vault sync code and click the Set-up now button, your code will be verified, and the connection between your device and the Encrypted Vault established. (see screenshot below)

The local sync folder will automatically be opened in Mac Finder,  Windows Explorer, etc (depending on the operating system on your device / PC) now copy files into the sync folder that you wish to upload to the secure Vault. The folder structure on your local sync folder will be mirrored in the remote Encrypted Vault.

Note you can also access the Local Sync folder at any time via the Menu \ Open Local Sync Folder.

You can force the sync client to upload files at any time by selecting the Upload option from the Sunc Client menu (see screenshot below)

After the initial upload, the sync client will monitor the local sync folder and any changes made will be automatically mirrored in the remove vault.

When you add files to the local sync folder you will notice that another file is automatically created that matches the original file name with .encrypted appended - this file is encrypted with AES 256 encryption and it is this file that is uploaded to the Encrypted Work Vault.. If you are deleting files in your sync folder ensure that you also delete the corresponding .encrypted file.
